Prague is the most enchanting city and we couldn't help feeling 'blown away' with the sights, particularly as we walked into the Old Town Square, where there is the most extraordinary array of splendid architecture, colours and spires! The city is bustling with tourists, all seemingly feeling the same as us. The famous Astronomical Clock attracts huge crowds whenever the clock strikes the hour and, the walk up the clock tower to take in an aerial view of the square and the city sights is a 'must do' experience for all visitors to the city.

The River Vltave weaves it way through the city and is adorned by a number of bridges including the famous Charles Bridge, with its ancient towers at each end of the crossing. We booked a lunch boat cruise and this was well worth the money, a nice buffet lunch (and wine!) whilst taking in all the riverside views of this vibrant city. We passed the 'Dancing Houses' - see picture below, a very modern design, which, at the time of its conception, was highly controversial but is now accepted as part of the modern looking Prague.

At night, many of the buildings and ancient monuments are lit up and provide an incredible backcloth to almost every street. The old town square in particular creates the most spectacular sight. We were lucky enough to witness a great sunset evening on one night where the changing colours of the sky reflected across the square in a quite unique fashion.

We went up to the Lookout Tower on Petrin Hill, via the Petrin funicular railway, which was apparently conceived as a mini version of the Eiffel Tower and there is certainly a close resemblance to its more famous counterpart. If you are feeling fit, there are 300 steps to walk up to the summit, or you can do like us and take the elevator up! We walked down the steps afterwards and there are some great photo opportunities on your way down.

Prague Castle sits proudly on the hill overlooking the city and here there are many churches and towers of differing ages, architectural design and colours all mixed up together, but somehow it all seems to work and you can walk for hours around these streets taking in all the different sights.
