Judging photos is very subjective and 100 people are likely to have 100 different preferences, however, these are my top 10 favourite photos that I have posted on Instagram during the last 150 days of traveling around 10 countries in Europe. A number of these are personal favourites because of our own experiences at these places and the feelings they generated. During this 150 days we have been to Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, England, Cyprus, Hungary, Czech Republic, Poland, Germany and Estonia and will visit England again and also Sweden before the end of 2018.

Do you have a favourite photo from our collection? It would be great to get some feedback.

These and many more can be viewed on our instagram account @martinandviviana and also at the Photography Portfolio link on our home page. On our travels, we are also compiling a collection of short videos of the places we visit and these can be viewed on YouTube here.

So, my top 10 in descending order are:-

Number 10. Aushwitz. Reflecting a really harrowing experience. This is the 'railway line to hell' that transported Jews to this Concentration / Death Camp during the 2nd World War. The flowers on the track have been placed there by the many visitors, in honour of the poor people that suffered and died here.

Number 9. Ancient Agora in Greece (Athens of course). I was really pleased to be able to capture this picture on a clear, sunny day and somehow managed to do so without any tourists straying into my sight!

Number 8. Budapest and the River Danube. Budapest has probably been our favourite city and this beautiful river is alive with so much history with Buda on the one side and Pest on the other. Great bridges, the huge Parliament building and incredible architecture spanning the centuries to enjoy.

Number 7. The Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. I love the lighting, taken about 3.30 in the afternoon and I think this particular view has a certain attraction rather than the more obvious frontal shot. For me it was a 'stand-out' feature in a city with so much recent history.

Number 6. Bran Castle in Transylvania, Romania. This was my second visit to Bran and the gloomy weather just added to the mystery of the place. The castle is very well preserved and it was fascinating reading about all of it's history.

Number 5. Tallinn the capital of Estonia. I couldn't resist including a snow scene and the Christmas Market setting in the Old Town Square, which really does give you that prefect Christmas Wonderland feeling.

Number 4. Oia, quite simply a 'must visit' in Santorini. There are so many small cobbled streets and white buildings, but personally my favourite time is at sunset and this shot highlights all the twinkling lights and shadows.

Number 3. A Monastery at Meteora Rocks in Greece. The construction on top of these impressive rocks must have been incredibly challenging and the sight of these 7 Monasteries was a real stand-out highlight of our time in Greece.

Number 2. The Transfagarasan Roadway in Romania; This truly is the ultimate road trip! The winding road for me was like a real life 'scalextric track'. The swirling mountain clouds were frequently obscuring the roads below, which provided us with a multitude of different images.

Number 1. A unique sunset scene in the Old Town Square in Prague. The colours of the sky were changing by the minute and it was great to witness this effect with the magnificent Old Town Hall and famous Astronomical Clock. Remarkably, no filters were used to get this shot and the background looks like a raging fire.
